BAS Non-Traditional Credit Allowance

Non-traditional credit is defined as any college-level credit granted through alternative means such as, credit by testing (AP, IB, CLEP, DANTES), extra-institutional learning (military credit, industry certifications etc.), course challenge, and career and technical education dual credit. Yakima Valley College Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) programs will accept non-traditional credit as follows:
A maximum of 45 total credits of non-traditional credit may be accepted in lower division courses.
Non-traditional credit is:
- Not accepted in upper-division (300/400 level) courses. Program exemption: Dental Hygiene Bridge program only.
- Limited to 45 credits overall.
- Limited in the general education/basic requirements category. Includes “S” grades, which receive no GPA designation. See individual program degree specifications for guidance on “S” grade limits in the general education categories.
- Not to be used toward residency requirements for BAS degrees.
