AST 121: Automotive Electrical 8 Cr

This course aligns with the industry’s Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Professional Certification (A6 - Electrical/Electronic Systems), and is guided by the standards set forth by the ASE Education Foundation’s accreditation. The course begins with the investigation of electrical fundamentals, progresses through AC and DC principles, and finally merges with automotive electronic systems application, construction, and operation. Manufacturers’ circuits and electrical diagrams are studied to develop diagnostic strategies and testing to identify the cause of component failure leading to the appropriate repair.
Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment in AST 100 or completion of with a grade of C or better, Concurrent enrollment in AST 122 ; and eligibility for MATH 080 and ENGL 090T , or permission of instructor.
