Combining convenient online instruction, laboratory simulations, and supervised clinical practice, this certificate prepares students for a career as a medical assistant. Instruction includes core courses essential to health care professionals and specialty courses in Medical Assisting. Simulations of patient examination rooms, a laboratory, and a front office reception and business area in the allied health laboratory allow for hands-on practice of essential psychomotor skills. Clinical practice in local physicians’ offices and clinics provides actual experiences to prepare students for entry-level positions as a medical assistant. This certificate program is 66 credits in length.
This certificate is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.Caahep.org) upon the recommendation of the Medical Assisting Education Review Board (MAERB).
