The Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education provides students with a foundation in theoretical and practical aspects of early childcare and education settings. The program offers theoretical knowledge and practical experiences that enable graduates to function in a variety of early childhood settings. Students will gain knowledge and skills to deliver appropriate programming for young children (birth through age 8). The AAS-ECE program is designed to be a terminal degree and is not meant to transfer to a 4-year college or university. The program emphasizes preparation in specific job skills required for entry-level employment. As the student progresses through the degree requirements, she/he will be awarded the ECE Initial Certificate, the ECE Short Certificate of Specialization, and the ECE State Certificate.
