Associate in Arts - Direct Transfer Agreement

The Associate in Arts degree (AA-DTA) is designed for students who plan to transfer to a four-year college or university. YVC offers a variety of disciplines so students can select their course load based on their area of interest within this degree.

Students may graduate under the requirements for the degree set forth in the YVC catalog in force at the time of entry for a period of not more than five years, if continuously enrolled.

Requirements


Group B


Choose five credits

Courses used to satisfy this requirement may not be used to satisfy Natural Science Distribution.

Group C


Choose three to five credits.

Courses used to satisfy this requirement may not be used to satisfy Humanities distribution.

Core Classes


Select courses from THREE disciplines (subject areas) from the respective list of approved Humanities, Natural Sciences, or Social Sciences distribution courses located under the DTA Distribution List section in the catalog.

No more than ten credits from any one discipline (subject area) is allowed.

Maximum of five credits may be taken as “S” grades.

2.0 GPA required.

Humanities


Choose fifteen credits from three different disciplines.

May include a maximum of five credits in skill performance courses indicated with a (P) in the DTA Distribution List and maximum of five credits of 100-level Modern Languages or 100-level American Sign Language.

Natural Sciences/Math


Choose fifteen credits from three different disciplines.

Must include one lab course indicated with a (L) in the DTA Distribution List.

Social Sciences


Choose fifteen credits from three different disciplines.

Electives


Core Electives


Choose fifteen to seventeen credits*.

Should be chosen carefully from the distribution of courses listed in Quantitative/Symbolic Reasoning (Group B above) and Humanities, Social Sciences, and Natural Sciences (located under the DTA Distribution List section in the catalog). Minimum 2.00 GPA required in this distribution area.

General Electives


Choose ten to twelve credits

Any college level course numbered 100 or above. These may include additional core electives and courses from the Restricted List. No more than three PE activity credits apply toward the AA degree.
