The Allied Health Technology program provides career and enrichment coursework and clinical experiences in order to build the knowledge, skills, and competencies for providing care for people of all ages in a variety of medical professions.
The different areas of study offered include: Medical Assisting, Medical Billing and Coding, Medical Interpreter, Pharmacy Technician, Phlebotomy, and Surgical Technology.
Each program has different admission criteria, coursework, and degree options, ranging from introductory classes and certificates to associate of applied science degrees focused on a specific area of study.
The majority of courses in Allied Health Technology are offered through an online format. Clinical laboratory practice and clinical externship is required in some program courses.
Program Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this program the student should be able to:
- Utilize well-defined professional skills to perform basic procedures common to the various health care careers
- Recognize the importance of effective communication between health care professionals and their patients
- Describe strategies to modify health care interactions to meet the needs of a culturally diverse community
