SPAN 203: Spanish III Second Year5 Cr Quarters: O This course will develop the language skills necessary for functional proficiency and creative use of the Spanish language. Using a communicative, interactive, and task-based approach, the student will explore the language, people, and culture of the Spanish-speaking communities. This course will enable the students to hypothesize, to support opinions, persuade, describe in detail and narrate in detail with precision. Additional vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammatical structures will be covered. The emphasis, however, will be on oral comprehension and spoken language. Prerequisite: SPAN 202 with a grade of C or better, three or more years of high school Spanish, a placement test, or comparable competency; native speakers normally qualify for second-year courses.
