SUD 101: SUD 101: Intro to Substance Use Disorder(s)

Intro to Substance Use Disorder(s) provides students with an overview of the SUD program. This course will outline the Washington State Department of Health (DOH) and Washington State Administrative Code (WAC) requirement to become credentialed as a Substance Use Disorder Professional Trainee (SUDPT). Students will research and interview industry partner(s), begin to examine the American Society of Addiction Medicine (ASAM) placement criteria, and Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-V). Students will be introduced to the assessment & referral process, understand the efficacy of community self-help groups and the importance of the client/counselor relationship.
