PHIL& 120: Symbolic Logic: Introduction to Logic 5 Cr Quarters: F, W, S Students of Symbolic Logic examine validity, inference, necessity, implication, and other concepts central to standard reasoning processes. Examination of the nature of formal arguments including propositional (sentence) logic and predicate logic (quantificational logic) are stressed. In addition to philosophy majors, symbolic logic is ideal for anyone who is interested in a career dealing with computers, anyone preparing for graduate school, or as an alternative to math. Prerequisite: Concurrent enrollment or a grade of S in MATH 020, Completion of MATH 093 or MATH 095 with a grade of C or better, or placement into PHIL& 120. Note: Credit will be granted for either Quantitative or Natural Sciences distribution but not both. Distribution for DTA: Quantitative or Natural Sciences
