CJ 203: Criminal Investigation 5 Cr Quarters: F, W This is an introductory course designed to provide students with an overview of the criminal justicesystem relating to criminal investigations in the United States. Students will examine the roles andresponsibilities of investigator. Investigative philosophy, identifying type of crimes and how they areprocessed and classified/organized will be discussed in class. Jurisdiction of criminal justiceagencies in the system and the administration of the justice process from the commission of acrime until final disposition will be presented. This course will discuss the actual workings ofcriminal investigations from the basic report to the finished investigation. Reports, caseorganization, crime scene processing, interviewing, and case management are a few of thesubjects covered in this course. Prerequisite: Completion of CJ 111 with a grade of C or better or permission of instructor.
