Combining convenient online instruction, laboratory simulations, and supervised practice, this degree prepares students for a career as a Billing and Coding Specialist.  Instruction includes core courses essential to health care professionals and specialty courses in medical billing and coding.  Simulation of a front office reception and business area in the Allied Health laboratory allow for realistic practice.  Supervised practice provides experiences to prepare students for entry-level positions as a Billing and Coding Specialist.

This AAS is 100 credits in length.  Students may complete the 68 credits required for the certificate program and the 32 additional credits for the Associate of Applied Science degree.  The 32 additional degree credits will add coding content particular to the hospital and clinical settings and an education to prepare students for the clinical and supervisory roles.  A program application is required, with 20 students accepted annual each winter quarter (December 1st) by a competitive point system.  Upon successful completion of the program, the graduate will receive an AAS degree in Medical Billing and Coding.
